I picked Chimchar because it looked beast. I kept it on my team for ages and it grew into an Infernape. Thats when Infernape started being my favorite Pokemon.

i picked chimchar because i have always chosen fire since they look the best

i chose turtwig 'cuz i always started with either a water or grass poke and i also didn't like piplup

Diamond was my first game, so I was a noob. I chose Turtwig... just 'cuz I liked him best.

Piplup is ok...

And I despise of Infernape.... evil theif.... he stole Blaziken's types....

anyway who cares about the types - it would make sense for chimchars evos to be fighting though

Before I liked Chimchar I chose Turtwig because my mom loved it.

my sister likes piplup the best while i like the other 2

My mom likes Turtwig because it is a turtle.

i think that some people select their starters due to how cute they are or how good they look

I chose mine from its type.

in the olden days i chose my starter from how effectively it would be against the first couple of gyms but now i choose a starter after looking at the wild pokes in the first few routes

Any starter can kill a wild Pokemon at the begining of the game.
