Munna is Drowzee's Pre Evolution

Munna:
It is the Dream Eater Pokémon and is Psychic-type. It is 0.6m tall and 23.3kg. It has the abilities Forewarn & Synchronise.

Drowzee:
It is the Dream Eater Pokémon and is Psychic-type. It is 1.0m tall and 32.4kg. It has the abilities Forewarn & Insomnia.

In conclsuion, I say Munna is Drozee's Pre Evolution.

Why does Drowzee's Shiny form match Munna?

because they made it that way IDK but it doesn't make sense to introduce a pokemon in it's shiny form when they haven't done that with any others.

Maybe its a new thing.

This shows that Munna's design and/or basic idea could have been made as early as Gen 1.

And I agree that it's very possible that Munna is Drowzee's pre-evo.

Did the trainer have a Drowzee or was there one in the area?

According to Bulbapedia, there is no Drowzee or Hypno around. Not in the wild, or with any trainer. Not on that route, nor in the Rock Tunnel.

no she didn't have a drowzee and there wasn't one in the area, i think the description was of her dream pokemon or something like that

I still Munna could be a pre-evo. Cuz they're both the dream-eater Pokemon. And they both are based off of tapirs.

so sorry if i have to say this but munna does not evolve into drowzee but into a pokemon called musha-na
